For my second internship, I joined Sterling Softwares, a company located in Diwalipura, Vadodara. Although I didn’t hold a specific role, I engaged in two significant projects that expanded my understanding of database management systems (DBMS) and data handling through SQL.
Enterprise Resource Planning
During this internship, I first worked on implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) using SQL for a business model. This task involved structuring and organizing essential business data, which gave me insights into how ERP systems function to streamline and enhance business operations. My second project focused on using SQL to sort and segregate large datasets. This project helped me understand how to manipulate and manage vast amounts of data effectively, a skill essential for any industry, including electrical engineering.
The primary goal of this internship was to deepen my understanding of DBMS and explore how data is used to make informed business decisions. Although my projects didn’t directly involve electrical engineering, the experience was invaluable for my future career goals. Database management skills are crucial for running a business, even in the electrical engineering field. These experiences showed me how mastering coding languages like SQL can be an asset, especially as electrical engineering increasingly overlaps with computer engineering.
Initially, I faced challenges in adapting to the practical use of SQL, as I had no prior experience coding it on a computer. However, with persistent practice and a keen interest in the subject, I quickly grew comfortable with applying SQL to real-world data management. This internship also motivated me to learn JAVA, recognizing its importance in electrical and computer engineering. Expanding my programming skills will not only enhance my technical capabilities but also equip me for the evolving landscape of electrical engineering, where technology and data are ever more integrated.
This internship at Sterling Softwares was a pivotal experience, broadening my technical foundation and reaffirming my ambition to lead a business in the electrical engineering sector one day.
